Fringe Events

A variety of events run alongside the Eel Festival Weekend at various locations, making Ely the perfect place to be on Spring May Bank Holiday weekend.

Our Fringe Events

A Festival of Morris Dancing

For several years, Cambridge Morris Men have taken part in the Eel Day Celebrations; joining in the procession and then dancing at various points around the city.  This event has become a firm favourite with the participants, so this year we have expanded it by inviting other Morris sides to come and join in the fun. The festival will bring examples of all the different traditions together including Cotswold, Border, Molly, Clog & Rapper.  So expect to see dancing on every street corner throughout the city centre on Saturday 5th May.  More details to follow.

Ely Wine Festival - Sunday 6th May

Ely Wine Events is a newly formed group who's aim is to redefine the food and drink scene in Ely through regular informal social events and tastings.  We are therefore delighted that they have chosen to host their first Wine Fair as a fringe event during our festival weekend.  For more details check out their website at www.elywineevents.co.uk

In Conversation With

In addition to seeing our celebrity chefs, Brian Turner and Rosemary Shrager performing in the Cookery Theatre on their respective days, there is the opportunity to join them in the atmospheric surroundings of the Tithe Office at Oliver Cromwell's House (opposite the Kitchen Zone on St Marys Green) for a more intimate occasion.  Here you will have the opportunity to hear our celebrities talk about their life and careers with the chance to ask those burning questions.  These events promise to be truly unique and memborable.  Tickets, priced £10 are limited, so don't delay in booking.  For more information and to book visit www.olivercromwellshouse.co.uk
